Music

Music is a vital part of life at First Presbyterian Church of Austin. We believe music is not a performance, but a way to minister to those who are listening. We use music as a catalyst for deepening our connection to scripture and God. From classical concerts and fun children’s choirs to Sunday mornings that leave your feet tapping and choral music that takes your breath away. Music in this church invites you in and settles into your soul. Find your rhythm here.

If you are interested in singing, playing handbells, serving as an instrumentalist, or volunteering with the children’s program, there’s room for you in our music ministry.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
— Colossians 3:16

Children’s Music

Have tiny singers in your midst? We have an exciting children’s music program here at FPCA! Your kids will grow in their knowledge and love of God through singing, music, and instruments. We always have room for more in our children’s choirs. These kids lead worship with song in special services throughout the year.

Children’s music programs meet on Sundays during the 10 am Wonder Hour. Contact Worship & Arts Director David Allen for more information.

Worship, Music, and the arts (WMA) TEAM

This team meets monthly to coordinate liturgical arts, visual arts, concert opportunities, and community connections to enhance worship at FPCA.

Contact Worship & Arts Director David Allen to join the committee or partner with FPCA.

Pipe Organ

You’ll hear our magnificent pipe organ in the masterworks during worship in addition to accompanying our choir and congregation. Since its debut concert in 190o, our Möller, op. 263 tracker organ has been filling Austin air waves with live music … well before Sixth Street became the music mecca. Watch a presentation from October 5, 2023 that includes information about the organ’s past, present, and future.
