Wellness & Yoga Classes at First Presbyterian Church of Austin

Care for your body, mind, and spirit in community.
First Presbyterian Church of Austin invites you to participate in our Wellness Program, offering Chair Yoga and Hatha Yoga classes designed to support physical health, flexibility, balance, and mindfulness in an inclusive, welcoming environment.

Building on the success of our 2025 pilot program, we’re expanding these wellness offerings January–March 2026, making it easier for people of all ages, abilities, and experience levels to find a class that fits their schedule and needs.

Whether you’re brand new to yoga or returning to a regular practice, you are welcome here—just as you are.

Chair Yoga

Hatha Yoga

Location: Conference Room, First Presbyterian Church of Austin

Meet Your Instructor

All classes are led by Nick Pierce, a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Austin. Many in our community know Nick from worship through music, and he also brings professional expertise as a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor. Nick is passionate about creating classes that are supportive, approachable, and adaptable for every participant.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is a gentle, accessible form of movement especially helpful for those with limited mobility, balance concerns, or anyone seeking a slower-paced class.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga focuses on traditional yoga postures, stretching, and breathing techniques. Classes emphasize strength, flexibility, and mindfulness while remaining approachable and supportive.

  • Stress relief and mental clarity

Registration & Fees

A small registration fee supports the care and maintenance of our space. This program follows a pay-what-you-can model, allowing everyone to participate regardless of financial situation.

  • Donations may be made in class, including via Venmo.

  • Please register so we can plan space accordingly and complete the required liability waiver.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior yoga experience?
No. All classes are suitable for beginners and experienced participants alike.

What should I wear?
Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing you can move and gently sweat in. Yoga is typically practiced barefoot or in non-slip socks. Supportive sneakers are welcome for Chair Yoga.

Do I need to bring equipment?

  • Chair Yoga: No equipment required

  • Hatha Yoga: Please bring your own yoga mat
    Optional items include a towel, water bottle, yoga blocks, or a strap.
