Upcoming Events

Here are some calendar items for the next few weeks:

Sundays in Summer - We are keeping two worship services at the usual times of 8:45am and 11:15am -- all summer! If you have never visited the early Contemporary Service at 8:45, the Sundays in Summer is a great time to Taste and See. The music is great, featuring well-known jazz musicians Rich Harney, Alex Coke, and the rest of the 845 Band, and the service is a wonderful, rich, and energetic time of praise and worship.

Sunday, July 25th - PB&J meets at Mangia. 5pm-7pm. This is a great time of fellowship and exploring spiritual & devotional topics (plus some great Pizza & Beverages!).

Wednesday, July 28th - FPC Adult Choir meets for fellowship at El Arroyo (7pm - 9pm). Catch up with everyone's summer activities, and if you are thinking about joining the choir this fall, come & get to know everyone!

August Adult Education -- Before the fall "regular" classes resume, adults can participate in the "Movie Discussion Group." Class meets at 10:00am during August in Rissman to discuss movie clips and how our faith plays out during the scenes. We count on your questions and ideas to enliven the discussion!

August 1 and 8 - Summer Choir! Sing with the choir at the 11:15 service. No experience necessary! Meet in the Choir Room at 10:00am Sunday morning to learn the music.

Friday - Sunday, September 17-19 - Young Adult Weekend at Mo Ranch. Out of college and under 40? David LaMotte is the leader of this weekend retreat: accomplished singer, song-writer, and a gifted inspirational speaker. This is a great weekend with the goals of fellowship and finding your way through this world as a Christian. $125 to $253 price range, depending on your housing selection. Contact Pastor Sarah.

Volunteer!

Volunteers play critical roles at First Presbyterian Church.  They welcome visitors, help with worship, teaching children, youth, and adults, and take part in service projects.  Here are some of the volunteer opportunities that can help the church fulfill its mission of being a community of faith in which everyone experiences a transforming relationship with Jesus:

Sunday mornings: Greeters; Welcome hosts; Ushers; Communion preparers; Communion servers; Liturgists; Sound board operators; Choir members; Counters; Nursery helpers; Valets; Sunday school teachers.

During the week: Receptionists; Newsletter assistants (folding, mailing, etc.); Special projects.

If you'd be willing to volunteer in any of these capacities, please let us know!

Bridge Group

Have you ever played bridge?  Even a long time ago?  Do you know the basics of how to play, and ant to learn more?  New players are welcome—no partner needed.  We meet Thursdays at 9:30am.

Moms' Group

Are you a mother with young children?  Would you like to have a chance to talk to other mothers, sharing your experiences, wisdom, and faith, seeing old friends, and making new ones, while your children are playing together?  Come to our Moms' Group, which meets in the Parlor every Wednesday morning at 9:30!

Men's Breakfast
Second Saturday of each month, 8:00-9:30am

men

Friendship, inspiration, living the Christian life—these are the guiding principles of our Men's ministry.  Come enjoy food, speakers, occasional musical guests, and fellowship in Christ.  We gather from 8:00 to 8:15, eat and talk until 8:45, and then participate in a program until 9:30.  Join us the second Saturday of each month upstairs in Rissman Hall.

Changing Lives in Russia

How would you like to spend your summer vacation bringing Christ's love to Russia?  A mission team from First Presbyterian Church will be heading to Camp Drushnik, about 37 miles northwest of St. Petersburg, which houses about 800 children.  We'll be bringing them humanitarian aid as well as friendship, love, and Christ's message of redemption.  There will be music, art, drama, Godly play, games, discussions, and dental care.

Help us to carry the warmth, hospitality, and love of FPC to the children and staff of Camp Drushnik.  Our lives are meant to be bridges over which Christ can walk into the lives of others.

If you're interested, felling a tug at your heart, or just curious, contact our coordinators for the trip, Noel and Elizabeth Roebuck.  It will be facilitated by Relational Bridges International.
